Let's look at this issue from another angle. PErhaps PM wants PErkasa to play this role for AMNO.

MCA + Gerakan bungkus themselves. Whether they get out of BN or voted out by voters.
Perkasa is the GOd-Son of AMNO, perhaps. See, how the Malays votes trickle back to BN. As long as BN has 65% of Malay votes, no body cares the support of Chinese/India. They are the king makers, but if there is no need for kingmaker, than Chinese/Indian votes are insignificant.
